by Firefox user 15701315, 7 years agoDid and extensive testing of uBlock after the new permissions. I also compared with the previous version. The conclusion: Previous versions of uBlock did NOT track your IP and/or device. This new version that request new permissions, DO use your host name and access your IP.
There has been a lot of speculations about this recently. I have no idea what happened with uBlock, so I choose not to go into that. I can, however, confirm that there is data mining going on with this version. What happens with the user information (IP address, Host information / Name and Device information) I have no way to know from the tests.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Miku2007, 6 days agoThis extension is a must have when watching YouTube. I have never seen a single ad since I started using it in March 2026. It blocks all YouTube ads and allows you to immediately start watching videos, unlike another adblocker I tried called Adguard, which would make the screen freeze whenever there's an ad, then you need to reload and wait for a few seconds to watch the video. By contrast, uBlock Origin is a much smoother experience.
By the way, uBlock Origin blocks almost all ads and redirects from every website I visited. Besides, I can customise the filter list to block specific components of a website that i don't want to see. - Rated 5 out of 5by Vermile, 7 days ago
